Karam’s public sculptures – referred to by the artist as ‘urban toys’ – consist of hundreds of animalesque/humanoid forms that have echoes of influences spanning from ancient hieroglyphics or cave paintings to modern manga, effectively forming a unique language that crosses linguistic and cultural barriers. His description of them as ‘toys’ typifies his absurdist, whimsical approach to the mission he assigns his works: to intrigue, provoke or amuse.
