Our Database of Public Art Practices is an on-going research project archiving public art interventions that have taken place in Lebanon from 1980 to present day.
Tiled alleyway
Damj
The intent of the project was to revitalize a neglected alleyway while transforming it into an urban playscape. Benches grow out of the rubber wall-tiling and can be repositioned or removed. Using re-cycled tire by-product(from a local tire recycling plant) and OSB wood sheets, the installation suggests a strategy of how we could rehabilitate bits of the public domain to grow an urban environment that is more sustainable to those living in it.
