Promenade in Your Dreams
Nada Sehnaoui
In 2001, International College, a private school in Beirut, invited Sehnaoui to create an installation on the school’s grounds. While visiting the school, the artist felt a strong urge to involve students in the work. She did so by inviting them to reply to the question “What would be the school of your dreams?” One thousand seven hundred and thirty students submitted either written texts or drawings in response, with which she constructed Promenade in Your Dreams. The installation was located in a large open-air amphitheater, usually used by the school for award ceremonies.
