Under the table, Under the bridge
Pascal Hachem
In Under the table, Under the bridge the artist sat under an East Beirut flyover – once near Dora and once again in Bourj Hammoud – holding a tabletop (complete with a cheap tablecloth and pack of tissues) over his head. The tablecloth obscures the artist’s face during the performance, undermining the conventional function of a portrait.
