Bassel Assadi

Bassel Asaadi’s metal sculptures have always been free from any prior space. In these works the question was if the presence of the room itself was essential or if the project should create a sculpture within the space. For the artist the existence of time in the room was omnipresent. The sculptural form gave in to the character of the place so he reduced the shape to its minimum. Accordingly, he created iron rectangular shapes with the thickness of half a centimeter within an architectural relation that does not seek complexity. The form accentuates the presence of the metal on account of the form, accordingly emphasising the presence of the room.
